"Question: My husband was diagnosed with bladder cancer last September ..."
"Answer: Sometimes the cause of cancer cannot be determined. Smoking, with its 4,000-plus carcinogens, causes the bulk of bladder cancer."
It must contain every carcinogen known to date and every carcinogen that ever will be discovered in the next 4000 years.
But on a lighter note, "A new study conducted by the U.S. Geological Survey found that coal tar sealants widely used on driveways, parking lots and playgrounds are causing high concentrations of cancer-causing polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in house dust. Dangerous coal tar dust created by car and pedestrian traffic is being tracked into homes. Children are especially vulnerable to this."
Maybe Doll was right to suspect coal tars used in pavements, and not tobacco, for causing lung cancer. He never made any attempt to correlate the two ... here is the USGS Report.
The growth of the cigarette industry parallels the growth in the number of miles of paved roads. Lung cancer rates remain constant today even though smoking rates have been reduced by half ... because the number of miles of paved roads has remained the same?

"Ask Dr. H: Some causes of bladder cancer. By Michell Hecht, Medical Columnist"
"... Smoking, with its 4,000-plus carcinogens, causes the bulk of bladder cancer ..."
"Michell Hecht is a Physician specializing in internal medicine."

I do believe Dr. Hecht needs some comments.
Last I heard, it was 4,000-plus CHEMICALS and around 60 carcinogens (mostly only demonstrated to cause cancer in animals with a few known to cause cancer in humans).
So a biased physician/columnist just invented 3,940 new carcinogens in tobacco smoke nobody else ever heard of. If he's going to lie about it, why not billions and billions?
Dr. Hecht's readers would be well advised to read their medical advice elsewhere.
